Alaska 2016
Homer, AK
Sandy's sister Monique and her husband Greg and their dogs joined us in Homer to camp on the Spit for a couple days. We went to Bishop's Beach to search for "gems". We were looking for the coal veins in the cliffs about two miles north of the beach entrance for micro amber embedded in the coal. We found a large chunk of coal that washed free from the cliffs. We found a few very small pieces of amber and of course other cool gems on the beach. We stopped at the Islands and Ocean Visitor Center and then stopped at a couple micro breweries before meeting up with Monique and Greg at the Salty Dawg.
