NM - Capulin Volcanic National Monument

We stopped to visit Capulin Volcanic National Monument. The volcanic cinder cone rises 1200 feet above the surrounding high plains of New Mexico near the city of Capulin. We could drive right up to the rim and hiked around the rim and down into the crater. Click on any of the thumbnail pictures to see an expanded view.
