2012 West Coast Scooter Trip

WA - Olympic National Park - Hoh Rain Forest

We left Pacific Beach and headed for Sekiu, WA. Along the way we stopped to check out Olympic National Park. We went on a couple short hikes to see the Old Growth Rain Forest and the Hall of Mosses in the HOH Rain Forest. This area gets up to 12 feet of annual precipitation, and yes, it was raining while we were there! Very unusual place with all the moss growing on everything. There were many very large trees in the old growth forest but one of the largest was a Sitka Spruce that was 270 feet tall, 12.5 feet in diameter at chest height and 500-550 years old.
