Since March we had been looking for a Lake home. Pat and I agreed it was time to "get out of Dodge" with the deteriorating political envioronment in the big city. We had several false starts where we had offeres submitted but for various reasons either the houses did not pass inspection or we were not the successful bidder. On September 24th, we closed on the house on Lower South Long Lake near Brainerd, MN. We then set about puttting our home in New Hope on the market and leisurely moving our things from New Hope to Brainerd. Long story short, we closed on our New Hope home on November 15th and moved full time to the lake home. Click on any of the thumbnail pictures to see an expanded view. Moving Activities

We rented a 24 foot Uhaul truck on two different ocassions and a trailer to get our stuff to Brainerd over the two month window we had. Help from family members made the task much easier.

"Before and After"

After the purchase of the house in Brainerd and before we sold the house in New Hope, we had to transition from one place to the other. Early going in Brainerd was sparce and disorganized. Here are a couple before and after pictures.

Getting Settled In

We got to enjoy the dock for about a week before it had to be taken out for the winter and got some yard work done before winter started to settle in. We were pleasanly surprised to find out that Lower South Long Lake is on a fly route for Trumpeter Swans. They can be very noisy day and night. Below are a few pictures of the house and yard as of January 2022.
